Ways You Can Help

Writing letters or cards … making a donation … adopting a soldier … giving a few minutes of your time.
There is something here for everybody!

ADOPT-A-SOLDIER:  Take a look at our Adopt-A-Soldier program to see how you could support a soldier one-on-one throughout his or her deployment.  This is a very rewarding program to be involved in!

BUSINESSES: Businesses can get involved by making a donation, collecting items for care packages or supporting one of our programs throughout the year.  Consider adopting Hugs for Our Soldiers when a team project is being discussed among your employees.

CHURCHES: We ask that you keep our troops in your prayers.  Encourage your Sunday School classes, youth groups, senior groups, choirs, Mother’s Morning Out and Vacation Bible Schools to be involved in supporting our troops through Hugs for Our Soldiers’ programs.

MEDIA OR REPORTERS: We welcome your help with our mission by writing news articles, spreading the word on the internet or air-time.

MONETARY DONATIONS:  Monetary donations allow us to purchase items for care packages, give us the means to ship overseas, and/or support one of our programs.  Online Donation Form

ORGANIZATIONS: Scouts can make a difference in our soldiers’ lives by collecting items for care packages or supporting our once-a-year Girl Scout Cookie DriveIf you’re a member of a veterans organization such as American Legion, VFW or a retired military club, or if you belong to a community organization such as Rotary Club, Kiwanis, homeowners’ association or women’s club, then consider introducing the “Hugs” program at one of your meetings so that your members can see how they can help support our troops.

TEACHERS:  Your students can get involved in writing letters, decorating cards or collecting items to send to our troops.  This is a great way to teach our young generation about community service!  Encourage one of your student organizations to support and promote one of our programs.  This helps build leadership and teamwork.

VOLUNTEERS: There are several ways you can volunteer to help.  Coordinate a drive with your neighborhood, school, church, Scouts, civic organizations or place of work.  You can volunteer your time by holding a fundraiser as simple as a bake sale or as complex as a concert.  Look at our programs and see how you could help obtain the items we are needing for our soldiers, such as the Welcome Our Soldiers Home campaign and the need for towels and washcloths.  Maybe one of your local businesses who sell these items would allow you to hold a drive at their store.

It is by having so many different volunteers that we can reach out and give our soldiers “hugs” from all who care back home.  If you have ideas or would like to volunteer, please email us at info@hugsforoursoldiers.org.
